Gregory L. Myer
Licensed Supervisor and Funeral Director
He
was raised in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania near the
town of Quarryville. Although he grew up working on the
family dairy farm, he followed his grandfather footsteps in
assisting at a local funeral home. In 1989 he earned
a bachelors degree from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary
Science. After serving his apprenticeship in a large funeral
home in Reading, he worked as a licensed funeral director
for a funeral home in Lancaster. After several years he was
asked to become a manager for the firm’s Jersey Shore,
PA [near Williamsport] location. In 1997 he and his family
moved to Montrose and became affiliated with the then Bartron
Funeral Home.
Greg is active in many professional organizations and locally
is involved with the Evangelical Free Church of Montrose, the
Montrose Area Kiwanis Club, Habitat for Humanity of Susquehanna
County, the Montrose Area Chamber of Commerce, Susquehanna
County Foundation and Odd Fellow Lodge.
He is married to Eileen K. Myer and has four children in his
household, Carolyn, Zachary, Destiny and Megan.
April R. Taylor
Licensed Funeral Director
She
was raised in LeRaysville, PA, she attended and graduated from
the Northeast Bradford Jr./Sr. High School in 2000. She
also was a 2003 graduate of Northampton Community College where
she was a member of Sigma Phi Sigma.
April is a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and is
a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post #154 and also
is 1st VP of Montrose Business & Professional Women’s Club. She is also a
member of Montrose Chapter No. 151, Order of the Eastern Star and also involved with the Bradford Susquehanna County EMS Council.
Her professional affiliations include, Pennsylvania Funeral
Directors Association, New Generation Funeral Directors Association,
National Funeral Directors Association,and Tri County Funeral
Directors Association.
April has been with the Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Inc. since
July of 2003 and has been a licensed funeral director since
June of 2004.
Robert A. Bartron
Licensed Funeral Director
Robert
was born and raised in Portland, PA, a small town near the
Delaware Water Gap. During his high school years, he
was employed by the Daniel G. Warner Funeral Home in Stroudsburg,
PA.
After graduation from East Stroudsburg High School he fulfilled
his pre-mortuary course requirements at East Stroudsburg State
Teacher’s College and in 1957 graduated from the Eckel’s
School of Mortuary Science located in Philadelphia, PA. He
returned to Stroudsburg and served his apprenticeship.
His funeral career was interrupted with a tour of duty from
1958 – 1960 in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in Fort Sam
Houston, Texas. After his service in the army he returned
to PA and was employed by the Carl W. Kegel Funeral Home in
Palmerton and the Robert A. Harris Funeral Home in Coatesville. In
1968 he and his family moved to Montrose, PA, at which time,
they purchased the Arthur H. Bowen Funeral Home from Arthur’s
widow, Mildred. Robert has been affiliated with local,
state and national funeral associations. He has served
in the Susquehanna County Coroner’s Office for thirty-five
years, both as Chief Deputy Coroner and Coroner. Bob
is a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Montrose, the
Montrose Rotary Club, the Board of Directors of the Susquehanna
County Housing and Re-Development Authority, Warren Lodge #240
F & AM and other charitable organizations.

W.W. Smith started an undertaking
and cabinet making shop at 34 South Main Street |
| 1896 |
John E. O'Brien bought the business from Mr. Smith and
continued at that same location. Later it was opened by
Paul Kraiss and in turn by Maurice J. O'Brien, the son
of John. |
| 1933 |
Arthur & Mildred Bowen purchased the assets
of the business from Mr. Maurice O'Brien and relocated
the business to 30 South Main Street. |
| 1938 |
Mr. Fred Hart sold his funeral home to the Bowens. His
business was located at 14 Grow Avenue. Mr. Fred Pierce
started that funeral home in 1896 at 26 Public Avenue.
Former owners of the Hart establishment included Bert Billings
and James VanCampen. |
| 1940 |
The Bowens purchased the current building at 74 Church
Street and moved the funeral business there to meet the
needs of a community who was asking for more services in
the funeral home rather then their individual homes. |
| 1968 |
Robert & Marie Bartron purchased the business
from Mildred Bowen, whose husband, Arthur, had died in
December of 1967. In accordance with State Law the name
of the funeral home became "Robert A. Bartron Funeral Home". |
| 1997 |
Gregory & Eileen Myer became associated with the business.
The Bartrons remain active participants in the business |
| 2003 |
The name of the firm was changed to Bartron-Myer Funeral
Home, Inc. Greg and Bob continue to work together, but
the Bartron's felt that the name needed to reflect Greg's
name. |
