Agnes Jones

Agnes M. Jones, 80, of New Milford, PA passed away, Sunday, October 11, 2009 at her home. Born December 16, 1928 in New Milford, PA, she was the daughter of the late Faith A. Cobb. Her husband Edward X. Jones predeceased her in 1991. She was a member of the New Milford United Methodist Church where she played the organ for many years. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Pennsylvania State Bankers Community Bank Board, the Philadelphia Federal Reserve Community Bank Board and represented the Keystone State on American Bankers Association Community Bank Board. She was an active member of the New Milford Rotary Club being the first woman member admitted to the club, the Binghamton New York Monday Afternoon Club, the Endless Mountains Theatre Company and Friends of Susquehanna County. Agnes was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of Susquehanna County. After 39 years, she retired from the Grange National bank of Susquehanna County at New Milford, PA where she was the president and CEO. Prior to that, she was Chief Clerk for the Pennsylvania Department of Highways for 8 years. Survivors include her sons & daughters-in-law, Michael E. & Diane Jones of Pittsford, NY, James W. Jones of New Milford, PA, Andrew R. & Jill Jones of Westport, CT, grandchildren, Kelly F. Jones, Alex (Samantha) Jones, Grace Jones and Ellen Jones, great grandchildren, Michael & Brooke Jones and many nieces & nephews.
