David Shapiro
Professor David S. Shapiro, 67, of Choconut, Pa. passed away in his home on November 25th, 2009 . Born March 30th, 1943 in Waltham, MA. He was the son of the late Mary (Callaghan) and Louis Shapiro.
He served as an artist for the US Army. He retired not long ago from Binghamton University where he taught Painting for many years.
He was a graduate of the New York Studio School in NY, NY and a Fellow of the American Academy of Art in Rome, Italy.
He did also leave behind a few close friends who will miss him dearly. He was an artistic genius; and a kind and decent man. He left the World a large and wonderful body of work that will live on. Good-bye David, our loved one, and old friend.
He had no close family. Surviving family members include Dana and Martha Callaghan of Southboro, MA and 6 more of their siblings; the children of his late mother's brother.
Arrangements are being handled through the Bartron-Myer Funeral Home in Montrose, Pa. A funeral will be held on Sunday at 12:45 at Sharon Memorial Park in Sharon, MA where he will be buried next to his parents.
